Technology in the Classroom

We had different stations where TEAM members simulated using different methods of implementing social media and other technology to increase the effectiveness of their lessons. Facebook, twitter, and videos were all forms of technology that we used. |
Thirty-One Fundraiser
Our fundraising event was the Thirty-One fundraiser, where we sold items such as bags, organizers and much more to friends and family. Continued from last month, our sales brought in money that went towards our scholarship. We raised enough throughout the whole year to send four students to an educational summer camp! |
Scavenger Hunt
This month, TEAM gathered together to participate in a fun-filled scavenger hunt. Through clues on our Facebook group, members had to visit well-known places all around MSU’s beautiful campus, such as the Rock, the Spartan Statue, and Beaumont Tower. Two teams raced against each other to beat the clock and win a candy prize! |
Friendship Bracelets with our Pen Pals Our community service event was an ice-cream social and bracelet-making event at North Elementary with our pen-pals. TEAM members got to have one last chance to visit with their pen-pals and bond with one another. We also named the winners of the scholarship at this event, which was exciting for both us and the students. |

Teaching In High Needs SettingsNo matter where our future classrooms might be - urban, rural, suburban or anywhere in between - we may find ourselves in a ‘high-needs setting’ facing issues that influence our students and the way they learn. This month at our academic discussion, we began to prepare ourselves for these complex situations through simulation activities and discussion, with a focus in socioeconomic status. |

MLK Day with TEAM Pen Pals
TEAM members piled into cars and traveled to Pattengill Middle School to meet our fifth-grade Pen Pals for the first time and to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We participated in several activities with our pen pals and discussed how Martin Luther King Jr. changed the world. Members and their pen pals talked about how people are like crayons, listened to Martin Luther King Jr’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech”, and wrote their own speeches about how they dream that they can one day change the world. TEAM also introduced the TEAM Scholarships to the students, and we know that we will have a tough time choosing just two students to award the scholarships to! Thanks to everyone who came out to participate - I know that the students had just as much fun as TEAM members did!
